Holton Insurance Promise

Brothers and Sisters,
When aspiring to hold office or be re-elected. There are many qualities and standards
which need to be maintained.
Mark Holton speaks of some of these qualities. "DRIVING FORCE SLATE represents a campaign that will never mislead the members or appeal to fear or prejudice. Our campaign is built on Fighting For Your Rights and putting the members confidence back in our Local Union." Those words are powerful, only if they are sincere.
Let us go back to 1999 when Mark Holton was Recording Secretary for Teamster Local 413. The members at UPS at the time were told by Holton that the investments in their private health insurance were losing money. It was time to choose a new plan.
Notifications were made to several insurance companies and a meeting was set up so they could explain what they had to offer to the membership. The meeting was set for October 24, 1999.
Holton had explained to the membership that after all the necessary information was obtained from the insurance companies. He would make it available to the membership in order to vote on the best insurance coverage. The meeting for the membership was set for October 24 1999.
Where Holton breached the trust of the membership and ultimately mislead them was when he secured and signed the deal with UPS insurance. The original proposal was signed on March 16, 1999.
The final Letter of Understanding was signed 30 days prior to the scheduled meeting with the membership.
What is important to remember is that the meeting with the membership was to explain and vote on the health insurance of the members choosing.
As you can see Holton has already held the trust of the membership once while he held office in our local union. What did he do? He violated that trust and mislead the membership!
Do you really want to grant that trust again and possibly be mislead on even more important issues? Why would you take a chance voting for Holton or anyone who shares his values?
