Alexia had timed the cryo sleep to be 15 years long.

The cryo sleep were over, and ironically at the same time (fate.. =V) Claire and Steve escaped from the facility, while dying Alfred dragged himself to Alexia´s cryochamber, so he would see his sister once more, before passing away.

Honestly the reunite scene is one of the saddest scenes in the series.
