These are my opinions and understanding of how using an isolation chamber to facilitate sensory deprivation effects the brain and the overall effects of its usage.

  • I really wanna go! I live in ventura county so I could drive to venice beach but I don't think any of my friends would want to go- just because most of the people I'm around having reached this level of conscience to understand. Should I go alone? Cause I really want to do it.

  • @tobtob180 I went with a friend the first time, but lets remember the key word here, Isolation. You don't need anyone there, because once you get there you're alone anyway. Just do it, no excuses, just do it and do it right away. This is like so many of those other experiences that people always say they are going to do and never do. Just go and find out if it's for you. My thoughts anyway. Probably only 10% of the people that tell me they are going actually do.

  • The place that Im going to float offers music during the session. Do you recommend with or without music?

  • @Jncwarrior Definitely without for your first time. I've never used music, because I have no interest, but try it if you do. He does offer video and sound options.

  • @The1234cadillac Very interesting question. I heard the guy who has spent more time in space than anyone else speak a while back and he spoke of how incredible the isolation feels. He was asked by someone if he would get lonely in space, and he responded that, while being lonely, he would prefer to live in space forever even if he never saw another person again. He said that when you are in space looking down on earth things fall into perspective in a way that he feels is otherwise unattainable.

  • Is it similar to taking a bath, except more room to lay out?

  • Nice talk, from a perspective i wouldn't other wise have been exposed to. you tube at its best! Thank you!

  • The isolation chamber sounds like a recreation of being in a mother's womb. Maybe one's subconscious mind starts remembering the experience and this causes the effect.

  • this sounds amazing i'm going to do it, they have one where I live!!

  • @jaybee123100 lol great advice - you can tell us everything. you say. "WATCH FOR SALT"

  • I need to float!! I have had some experience with complete dissociation. I am very interested in this I am outside of Philly and I have heard the eagles have tanks. I want to find a good place local to me that isn't like a spa I want sensory deprivation.

  • Would you recommend it to someone who is confused/unhappy about what they are doing with their life and where it may be heading?

  • This interview completely influenced me to try this, I've been thinking about doing it for a while but never really seriously considered it.

I plan on going very soon.

  • I just had my first session at Float Lab yesterday and I totally agree with you. Life changing experience!
