KingCast, it's customary for a person who loses a match at the U.S. Open to leave the court immediately after the match is over (so that the winner can have the court and give the post-match interview). Lendl graciously shook Edberg's hand here -- nothing "punkish" at all.

@jayfey77 I'd also guess that it's much harder for a serve and volley player, like Edberg, to play past 30. You lose quickness and agility as you age, and constantly coming to the net and stretching for volleys has to have more of a demand on the body than staying at the baseline.

Lendl was my favorite, Edberg was my 2nd favorite. I can't stand seeing men use two hands, these men played like men.

i never understood the reason why Lendl has always been considered unpleasant. However these two were the initiators of modern tennis.

I dunno, I've seen it done both ways, maybe I was harshing on him a bit.

lenmdl's coach was tony roche, really?
Lendl's backhand to me was and still is the best I have seen............I think that's why I never liked 2 hand backhand because of Lendl.

lendl made more errors on the bachhand side though, thats why his forehand was considered better.

Why did Edberg retire so young?
Fanfardon 2 years ago
he didnt retire young 99 percent of tennis players retire by age 30.a 30 year old cant compete with a 21 year old,its very hard on the body everyday competing the body doesnt recover as fast as it does for a 21 year old.

I don't get it. I am fifty and I can whoop the punk ass of any 20 year old.
Fanfardon 2 years ago
yeah sure you could thats why you see 50 year olds playing on the atp tour dont be a retard.
