Interesting. Purists might balk at the single rotating direction, but it's a new "spin" on an old idea (forgive me for the pun), with potential in size and weight reduction and comp. Kudos to you for your innovation, vision and resourcefulness.

Very cool idea - I'm mod'ing my 125 the same way.

What impeadances are your speakers and crossover? 8ohm crossover with 2 16ohm speakers?

and i sold this already awhile ago.

it is the original 12" woofer though and i think the tweeter i used was an 8ohm?

WOW!!!...That sounds AMAZING!!!....I just had a leslie 125 installed to my b2 organ...and I was wondering if there was a way to get my highs to come out better, being that the leslie is just a sub woofer speaker...how did you do this?...I want to have my organ guy to hook my speaker up like that so that I can get better highs...Thanks...this is amazing!!!!!

i have 2 rotating speaker cabinets that i power with old fender tube amps. one is a fender rhodes with 12 in. jbl. the small one came out of an organ and uses a 8 in. jensen. i play guitar thru these. i turned the motor pulleys on the lathe and cut the groove for the belt as deep as i could go, this slowed the rotor down to a real tasteful r.p. m. anyone who wants to try this i will machine pulley for $10.00. my motors are single speed so this is how i slowed down.

Great. I have a Leslie model 25 that I converted to a 125 by replacing the single speed motor with a 2 speed motor. It's a very handy sized cabinet. I will probably do your mod to add the horn. Very good idea. Hey, if your's works and sounds good, I wouldn't worry about it. I have fooled with these things for years.

I think you hit on the right adjective in your first sentence. "Cheap." The tweeter going into the lower rotor does not spin the high frequencies at all. That's why a dedicated horn was designed for the highs with the right compression from driver to trumpet rotor at the mouths. The lower rotor was designed to funnel lows only. The sound, a stylized version of a leslie. It would have been better to use a 2101 or make something like that if you didn't want to ruin your cab.

fwiw..

the single speaker leslie is supposed to be "full range". so if you are introducing a tweeter the need for a Xover is arguable.

However, if you use one, and SWAP out the stock woofer to something more bass specific, and then add the crossover and driver for treble (matching the freq. ends of the speakers w/the Xover settings)..and you should have a very EVEN sounding custom job.
