The late Pope John Paul II is one step closer at getting a spot on the altars, now that Benedict XVI will name him venerable.

Benedict XVI is expected to sign the decree Saturday December 19th.

On March 25, 1984, the feast of the Annunciation, Pope John Paul II consecrated Russia in a public ceremony. Lúcia Santos, one of the seers of the Fátima apparitions, said that the consecration requested by the Virgin Mary was fulfilled and accepted in heaven, and that everyone should live out the consecration personally by faithfully wearing the Brown Scapular.

  • Pope John the Pedophile Protector Paul is gonna be a saint... nicely done catholic church

  • @1962SatanTookOver2 I have a question, how do you feel about padre pio?

  • @ComeHomeCatholics The changes made in the Mass were much more than "allow[ing] for mass in the vernacular." If you have an opportunity to see an old-style Tridentine Solemn High Mass, please do so. You will be amazed at the differerence between then and now. I am not saying one is bad and the other is good, but it is much more than a matter of language.

  • It would not be an understatement to say that John Paul II did more damage to the Catholic Faith, than any other Pope in its history, closely followed by Paul VI of course. There is nothing venerable in this.

  • @1962SatanTookOver2 As the evil ones are starting to retire as bishops, there is hope in the horizon, if the novus ordo react and start restoring the Church. PAX ET BONUM.

  • As a "born again Catholic" I can say I am a product of Vatican II, having served the Church for almost 30 years, for the Glory of God. I am old enough to have overcome the fear of nuclear war, but young enough to have missed the latin rites. I can not see the advantages of hearing our mass prayers and readings in a language I couldn't fully identify with, if that is what some want to bring back.

  • @jorgediego All that was staged, a big theater, Rusia did not lose any war, the comunism is still alive and well. Many priests in Poland acted as informants for the government.

  • @jorgediego The Catholic Church will ot be destroyed, but we have the big apostasy, as the Holy Bible warns, many will be confused and lost.

  • You are not a Traditionalist Catholic, are you? It is more than the Mass, but the Mass is the embodiment of the entire Catholic Doctrine. If you want to know what the objections to the Vatican II is all about, please go read a reference article on my Channel. Read the original document. The outline of items that are now being discussed between the SSPX and the Vatican is what is wrong with Vatican II. There is a laundry list of things. Go read. Learn.
