Kind of a forgotten hit from 1973 from the band Looking Glass. Always liked the sound of this band. Here's 'Jimmy Loves Mary Ann".

  • Elliott Lurie had one cool voice - rumoured to be wanted by Becker and Fagen to tour with Steely Dan at one stage. You can hear just why on this great song. Thanks a lot for posting.

  • I love this song and think it is Looking Glass's best song, whenever I play this on the juke box people always ask who it is. Thanks for an excellent post

  • @Blazewriter1 Jimmy Loves Mary Ann(my GF loved it, her name was Mary Lee) made it to lower top 40 in Atlanta, but, Golden Rainbow did not. I heard/saw it on a TV variety program(don't recall which one) and after losin' sleep for a coupla weeks I just gave in & went out & bought the LP, :o)

  • @tisgoner Steely Dan? That would have been, as we said in the day, far f----ing out!

  • @Freebyrd975 True. Your lady is lucky to have a romantic! :)

  • @nachodaddy Thanks for the info; I would have never known! This song never hit New Orleans, which surprises me. My b/f in 73 was named Jimmy and this could have been our cute little song. What I liked about Brandy was that I thought it would make a great short story but of course her sailor would have to want to be her man!

  • Sorry. I like Brandy but I've always liked this better.

  • @waterman9465 I remember this hitting the air waves in suburban boston but it didn't stay on the radio long

  • Must have been a regional hit somewhere, never reached Detroit. Not as good as Brandy anyway.

  • @Blazewriter1 By all means listen to their tune "Golden Rainbow", as well. They had alotta tunes better than Brandy.

  • LOVE this song
