Opposition motion could trigger snap election

February 10 to March 18, 2010 - The Liberals, NDP and Bloc Québécois are moving to assert the supremacy of Parliament over the government's refusal to provide uncensored documents related to the treatment of Afghan detainees.

The opposition parties have introduced motions that would find the government in contempt of Parliament and could lead to a snap election.

Ignatieff has it wrong, again. The Crown is sovereign, not Parliament. Before any anti-monarchists go ballistic, remember the Crown in Canada is the GG who delegates her authority to the government through the Prime Minister and cabinet. I think Iggy is trying to assert Parliamentary supremacy, but to say that Parliament is sovereign only demonstrates his ignorance. Again.

@slade420 Certainly Iggy and gang have not got their act together. There does come a point where throwing out the government is our responsibility and we have reached that point. I find Iggy haughty and I don't know if he can be trusted. On the other hand, I know Harper is a poor leader who behaves like he is the king of Canada and I definitely don't trust him. I've had enough of the devil I know.
