  • when was this?

  • 30.6.2009

  • Most of my favorite Dream Theater songs are in their current rotation, and I don't get to see them because Progressive Nation 2009 isn't coming to Seattle! DAMN IT!!!

  • well ... sometimes it´s hard with them :) I also had to travel over 800km for this show ...

  • What else did they play during the show? Count of Tuscany...? :-D

  • unfortunately Tuscany they didnt play ... but setlist was something like this: In The Presence Of Enemies Part 1 Beyond This Life Panic Attack A Nightmare To Remember Hollow Years Constant Motion Erotomania Voices A Rite OF Passage The Spirit Carries On As I Am + medley Metropolis + Learning To Live + A Change Of Seasons

  • A Nightmare To Remember is really good. The intro harmonic progression is a very nice minor chords exchange. The riff played staccato fits verse very well. And what they do later in the song, this polymetry and stuff, great job.

The thing I like the most about this song is the line "I am endlessly faling/Lost in this wondeful misery". This has a Bach-like minor tonic substitution by raising its third so that it's major (on "miiiii-sery"). Profound, in many aspects.

  • this is amazing. JLB does sound fantastic!

  • i saw them in sweden

  • @TheGrandBrand I know very little about music theory, but that's also my favourite part of the song. Something about the guitar behind the "misery" bit always stood out to me, so it's cool to know that it's not just me and there's a reason for it. :P

  • @dablt Why can't youtube work their shit together?

  • D.t is still and will always be one of the greatest bands of all times, seriously, u dont like JL´s singing, dont listen to it and shut up, if you can do better good for you. but dont complain on what you cant overcome, he is still the life of D.T. in my OPINION, D.T has become what it is in part of thanks of Labrie. Rant me, do what u want but he is still one of my favorite singers.
