  • AWESOME VIDEO

  • Well, the 'oily' substance could not have been the same stuff you a refering to then because they use water to keep the cable at a lower temperature.

  • The cable has snapped once ( ok possiblly twice) and that incident that you say were it frayed so much what happend was the cabel snapped and riders were hit with shards of metal and an oily substance which was the collant. And there are sensor trips perodicly. The most common is the rollback breaks can "go offline" or stop responding.

  • Well, actually, the cable had snapped a few times, being the reason for all the downtime of the ride. Just before they even started to put water in it, the Cable frayed SO bad that the shards of the cable hit passengers in the faces and arms. I do not believe I have ever seen a time when the ride was down due to sensors. Maybe breaks but barely. I was obsessed with this ride to the point actually studied everything about it. An employee tried to argue with me and I was still right. :-)

  • The reason because it did not go in your face is prob because they were not useing a much, and the problems with the ride, ok now lets think, in 2003 this was intamins second accel coaster and has 1000's of parts that can break or wear down,it has 100's of sensors which all need to be in sync for the ride to work it has 100's of copper alloy fins which have individual pneumatic cylinders and a 10,000 horsepower motor, and lets not forget that this technology was brand new to cp at the time.

  • BTw- i live about a mile from there. LOL

  • No because when riding it in 2004, i never once had any coolant sprayed in my face until 2005 or so. They started providing water in the cable hold in 2005 because of all the incidents with the cable. They decided to connect a water hose to the cable holder and eversince, when you walk next to the ride, the water is always damp at the ground near the track. It went either 2 or three years without any kind of liquid/water. That is why there was so many problems during the first few years.

  • Yes there has, since 2003 when it opened it had coolant on the cabel it was designed like that, that every intamin accelorator has problems with the cabel fraying (going slack). I was there in 2003 and i saw the coolant at the end of the launch section sprying in the air.

  • No there hasn't. When it was first built, for about 2 years, they did not have it until there were problems with it fraying.

  • ummm there has always been coolant on the cabel.
