At the National Conference on Operations & Fulfillment, I asked Jim Cochrane, the Vice President of Ground Packages for the United States Post Office, if he could provide some tips for eBay sellers, online merchants, and small business. In this video, Jim speaks about some of the unique opportunities for saving money that the US Post Office has to offer.

  • I just sold a $20 item on ebay and it only weighs 20 grams and they charged by $8.00 to ship it just to a city in my same province in Canada of Ontario. God only knows what they would gouge me for if I shipped to the US? Is there no cheaper weight to ship? They only give me choice to ship as expedicted parcel/ Xpress shipping or regular parcel?

  • How about all the packages that have been marked "delivered & confirmed", yet never reaches it's destination because of the inept staffers at the post office. I went through at least 7 individuals, two of whom were suppose to get back to me, and haven't and yet; my package "supposedly" was delivered to me; while I was sitting home waiting and it never arrived. Too many packages go astray; how can we trust the Post Office!!! Everyone is the PO blames someone esle for their ineptness.

  • @nagmashdriver I live in a very small town, and calling the post office (spelling IS correct), or, service "once" to get helpful info concerning shipping a lot of the "same" items as an E Bayer is fine! It sure saved me some $ and the website wasn't totally accurate.. Yeah, calling about different packages takes time, but if you have a lot of one item, want to know the best way for all involved to ship, a call to different couriers wasn't a bad idea for my situation!

  • @Shimmeringsmiley

"call the Post office (sic) before making a price"????? Don't be fucking lazy, use the USPS website to calculate postage. Highly accurate, extremely affordable digital scales plus the USPS website make calculating postage ridiculously easy. Don't call the Postal Service and waste their time telling you how much to mail your widget.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES can i send a copy of red dead redemption for PS3 with a check with my own bubble mailer with first class mail, please reply

  • USPS aren't supposed to pack the item for you(they can lose their job over it), but the lady packed 2 packs of 50 dvds without any bubble wrap and of course they broke and now I'm out. fuck USPS

  • The Post Office is showing Flat Rate Boxes all over the place when you go in . It's not a good deal most of the time. It's only a good deal on a very heavy item. First Class or Media mail should be your first option.

  • I agree. I am new to selling on E bay and the shipping costs are OUTRAGEOUS! Before you sell something on E bay, weigh the item and call the Post office before making a price.

They tell you on E Bay to have free shipping as an incentive to sell. I had one item that was pretty heavy cost 24.00 to ship. I made 22.00 on it. Big mistake and I learned from it. I assumed they had 2nd and 3rd class shipping still. Not anymore.
