Transcendental Sutra or Heart Sutra recitation in Sanskrit. Voices are H.H. the Dalai lama and a Tibetan Buddhist Indian Sanskrit Scholar monk. This was from March 2010 teaching given at Delhi, India, by H.H. the Dalai Lama.
@abichan7 - My Sanskrit professor told me both pronunciation are correct. What reason do you have to rule out the 'gya' pronunciation?
Hindi is a later language than Sanskrit, so it probably made a choice, by ruling out the Sanskrit 'jna' pronunciation. This created the false impression that 'gya' is unique to Hindi and that it did not exist in Sanskrit.
Do u call it sanskrit?? sounds hindi to me... You have mistaken the name basically... its Prajna-Paramita not Pragya-paramita... its not Hindi its Sanskrit... so its not gya but jna,... if you say it gya you ll have disobeyed the first rule for scription in Devnagri...
thats why noone left any comment here.. the preist makes the basic mistake mispronouncing the name,... Shame!!
But Prajna Paramita is written in Sanskrit, and so is the name of the Sutra.
So isn't it quite obvious that you have to read it the Sanskrit way?!!
I am not ruling out anything.. I am just saying that Hindi does not follow Devnagari rules of scripture.. No doubt I love the language..
