The Emperor's Fanfare, Father Antonio Soler
The title and arrangement are E. Power Biggs's and the piece was originally written for harpsichord. Two sets of reed voices from the organ at St. John The Divine in New York City are highlighted here, a solo tuba stop and a group of harmonic trumpets -all recorded in the incomparable resonance and reverberation (full 8-10 sec.)of the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. The organ was built by the Aeolian-Skinner company under the direction of G. Donald Harrison, this magnificent instrument comprises 143 ranks and 8,035 pipes at the time of this all digital recording-1983- by Michael Murray. Copyrighted by TELARC CD-80277 St. John The Divine photography (C) by JM Barbosa. 5-19-2008

  • What is the title of the CD and where can I get a copy of it.

In my beliefs playing the organ is like giving praise and glory to god. The organ is the best instrument for this. You have the majestic trumpets, french horns, bass, etc. Then flutes, clarinets, etc all at your fingertips.

When I play the organ I always try to have trumpets or play a piece that has them because I always give thanks to god for the gift that he has bestowed upon me, because it exemplifies my belief.

  • Very nice piece. Sounds even better if you type the following: &fmt=18 at the end of the url address, then click on go.

  • look up this video it will scare you...... "Has the Illuminati flagged the destruction of NY, in the Cathedral of St John The Divine??"

  • @ARFRC1 thats funny you say that because this church st jhon the divne is very satanic alot of the images and statues are occult and demonic

  • Actually this recording was made in July of 1987, and it is still available on Telarc - CD-80169. Wonderful recording - one of the best examples of recording the massive St. John the Divine acoustic with its incomparable AS organ! It actually sounds better since the 2008 Quimby rebuild!

  • No, that cathedral in Africa isn`t a cathedral, but a basillica

  • I own the CD, too, wasn't that hard to buy and I had it delivered to Australia. Love it.
