Positive methods are great!
I am APDT member who does not use a clicker, but trains using my emotion.
My clients are successful marking desired behaviors and rewarding that behavior with smiles and tone of voice.
We have good results without using a clicker tool- most families appreciate the simplicity of emotional training. Treats and secondary rewards of touch and attention suffice as rewards without any target stick or clicker.
One can simply teach a dog to target the back of your hand.
