Severity is an upcoming First Person Shooter (FPS) being developed for both the PC and console systems. Funded by the Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL), it is being developed by an unnamed development studio. Tom Mustaine, formally Vice President of Ritual Entertainment, is currently at the head of the project. Severity will be built upon id Software's Quake 3 engine and will blend many different FPS gameplay styles, separating them as individual game-modes. A closed beta for affiliated professional gamers will be followed by a public beta prior to a commercial launch.

  • stop arguing, a development team is that very thing. A team. no one man is better, a good team works as hard as each can. its passion that drives development.

  • while I completely agree that John Carmack is the more advanced programmer but you are massively overlooking John Romero's programming skills. He coded the editors as well as a number of his own graphical games.

    The fact is the height of iD software so far, and probably the best 1st person shooter ever made, was Quake 3. Romero is an amazingly talented designer and made Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake the legends they are today, but Willits and McGee are just as good... and there is Only One Carmack. Romero should never have left iD software. iD was greater with him, and Romero is less than without iD.
