Some random testing. I used Dynamic Paint textures to emit light for Blender 2.5x indirect lightning system.

Because the current "indirect lightning" implementation operates on mesh face level, I had to subdivide the walls to get all those small texture details to emit light. Therefore the final scene needed to have ~1M vertices.

  • now, I watch again, but those small white lines outside the 'paint', is that wetmap? or what is it?

  • @MrCedal It's an issue I had with those material settings. The surface itself is white (or grayish) and those painted areas have high emission -> so there is a small area that has white color but still has some emission.

I guess it's just matter of more tweaking.

  • Well, somehow i thought that Dynamic Paint was a new feature introduced in 2.6

  • @BassPounderX We learn from experimentation, and sometimes we end up with cool looking effects and want to show others what we came up with. Sure, it probably has more practical uses elsewhere, but for now, it's eye-candy. A lot of effects you can only see once they're already rendered. As they say in game dev: "Prototype early. Prototype often." So...y'know....calm down. :|

  • @miikahweb Perhaps premultiply has something to do with it?

  • how ?!?!?! this is so awesome ... o_O

  • STOP why take along time to render a vidoe lek this when all ur going to do it the same thing ur not learning anythning from making "TEST SCENE"

  • lucky suzanne !!

  • Quite possibly the coolest blender render I've ever seen.

  • You could do a tutorial please?

  • Hi, that's impressive and wonderfull to see. About parameters i tried to make dynamic paint colors with inderct lighting but it only seems to make on canvas surface unlighted. On canvas surface materials i put on "vertex color paint" but it doesn't works with "vertex color light"
