The second part of a US documentary charting John's company rehearsals before their 1978 New York Debut. Here he dances Afternoon of a Faun with the wonderful Cathy Foulkes.
Ow, there were only two men who could skate like Nureyev on ice and Baryshnikov on blades: John Curry and Toller Cranston. Never seen such nice figure skating since then!!
Many thanks for this. I have always thought of 'Faune' as John's signature piece - it so perfectly encapsulates what he wanted to achieve in making skating into an art akin to ballet.
PS the Nietzsce quote at the end is found on the frontispiece of the book 'Nijinsky dancing' - I should have guessed that John would have had that book too!
