That delay in getting info was terrible. I knew the longer they were withholding info on Wheldon's condition the worse it was.

I never saw a crash where 3 cars were airborne, not even 2!

Those Indy drivers are so great and personable and losing Dan Wheldon is devastating. He was such a nice guy. I had a feeling from the start that they couldn't be that bunch up for too long and something had to happen...I never imagine it would end up like that...terrible.

  • @senorsoupe

Yes, I sat down low once and the retaining wall was interfering a bit. Definitely the higher you are the better.

But I bet you had a good view of the double-files starts from turn 4.

If you get there real early you get a great chance to see the drivers if you enter the Georgetown Road side and walk on the track and get alongside Gasoline Alley. Dan Wheldon gave me the thumbs-up 2 years ago.

  • @pajasa62 Neither can I. I was watching the race and knew it was bad when the crash happened, and was even more worried the longer it took to get info on his condition and the very hurried mood. I am still shocked and dismayed at what happened Dan was one of the top drivers in the sport. RIP

  • @pajasa62 I usually sit closer to the main straight. I didn't buy tickets early enough this year so I ended up closer to turn 4 and a bit too close to the track for my liking, oh well was still awesome!

  • Aww!! 2:18 Dan Wheldon and Kelly Ripa. So cute. RIP Dan Wheldon!!

  • @senorsoupe

I can't believe that Dan Wheldon is gone.

I realized a little while ago that he is going to be on the ticket for next year's Indy 500.

  • @senorsoupe

That's what I was thinking..."I can't believe I have to wait another year!"

Where do you sit? I go by myself and have been lucky to get and renew a seat in the SW vista deck. I do not get much of the front straightaway, but a get a great turn 1 view, the short chute and turn 2.

I hope the attendence is good for Las Vegas today.

I'm hoping Will Power will take the championship just because he hasn't won it before.

  • @pajasa62 I'm with you. On my drive home to Ottawa on the monday after the race all I could think about was that there were 364 days until next year's 500

  • @IndyCarDriver= I don't watch Nascar anymore.

  • There should be 3 races at Indy...there is already the Brickyard (oval) and the 500 (open wheel cars, oval) but why not bring the open wheelers back a second time sometime during the fall to run on the road course? If that course was once good enough for Formula One cars, surely it is good enough for Indy cars! I love the 500 (loved it more in the old days with more kinds of engines) but Indy cars on road course is in certain ways even finer...saw them at Barber in Alabama, fantastic! :-)
