This is probably my favourite season finale of Neighbours. I remember being on the edge of my seat all summer holidays waiting for Neighbours to return in 1999. I was so impressed with the stunts - I remember reading in a TV Week article that they used a fake rain machine for some shots and a hollowed out double of the car for the shots in the water. I think the article also said there was a hot spa for Alan Fletcher and Daniel MacPherson to sit in between takes. Great build up of tension in this episode - just how a finale should be. The only thing that let it down was the Drew and Sally storyline. I always found Drew to be such a boring character and this episode is no exception.

@onedirectionnnxx Joel survived, a rescue helicopter arrived at the start of 1999 and flew him to Erinsborough Hospital. I'm actually not sure if I have the next episode - it wasn't on the video tape with this one, but I may have it on another somewhere! Hopefully I'll track it down one day.

@Janeway613 Me too! Unfortunately I have hundreds of VHS tapes that aren't very clearly labelled - wish I made more of an effort when I recorded them! I'm slowly making my way through them.

I'm surprised this wasn't put on any of the DVDs. This really is a good episode.

I wonder what it would have felt like to actually see this episode when it was new. Especially if you were in Australia and forced to wait 2-3 months to see the conclusion.

I live in the UK but I was a lot younger when this episode aired and also me and my family were on holiday on Holland the week this was shown so I didn't see this particular episode. I just remember being quite shocked when we returned about a week later and I saw the new credits and theme tune for the first time
