I've lived in Tulum for many winters. The way to do it is to show up there and look for work at the different beach front places. Also, it may still be possible to stay at a low budget place on the beach (I'm not sure if they exist anymore). Sometimes, owners will let you stay on their property if they are not taking care of it and need someone to take care of it.

omg! You are in Tulum and you almost totally skip filming more of the beautiful beaches and the mayan ruins and people. You are so impressed with your expensive pretty looking food and your expensive hotels and your first class plane tickets!

Typical american consumer, just sit on your fat ass and eat at the buffet. Your only interaction with local is as servants, or garish dancers.

EXACTLY. I spent five weeks in Tulum living simply and it was absolutely wonderful, the environment, the people, the streets, the music. I didn't set foot in a single luxury resort - I could drive to Myrtle Beach and do that.

The thatched huts on the beach are MUCH nicer. Listen to the cheezy music with this video - it kind of says it all. That vacation could have been anywhere.

I would love to go there, and maybe stay a while. This is a nice vidio, yet I am poor, and would like a vidio on a musician's budget. Like the cheap thatch hut's on the beach, and thing's of a normal nature, not the Paris Hilton version. But nice editing, well done. Thank you!
