These are my three strawberry hermit crabs in their "Crabitat". Hermit crabs are delicate pets and require much more care then specified by pet stores. Make sure they have plenty of forest bedding substrate to brow and molt in(at least three times the height of your largest herm), as well as marine aquarium quality salt water to drink (bath too for strawberry herms). Feel free to ask me questions about hermit crab care!

  • Your HUGE corner bowl...I am IN LOVE with it! I have literally searched everywhere for one, my straws need one SO bad for their saltwater bubbler pool I want to make them (they have a saltwater bowl already, but I really feel they need a bigger and deeper one).

So my question is, where did you find that beautiful corner bowl?!

By the way, your crabs are very beautiful :)

  • @yesiamalsohere2 haha it was just at a local pet store sold as a snake corner water bowl :s

  • I have set up my 10 gallon tank for 2 Ecuadorians (by the way, should I get a purple pincher as well since I'm getting very small hermit crabs?) and I have a couple of questions. First, can I use the purified water that you buy at the store for there drinking water? Second, how long will the Ecuadorians live and how big will they get? I'm under 18 years old, but I want to be that weird chick in the room with the 20 year hermit crab later on in life :D

  • @zeezeez901 the best option for drinking water would be distilled water which is a lot cheaper than purified water at a pet store. Make sure to get Oceanic or Instant ocean sea ssalt sold at pet stores to make their salt water which is very essential for Eccies. I'm not sure exactly how long they live but I've had mine for 4 years and they haven't grown to much so I could imagine they live for a long time and they are the smallest species of land hermit crabs.

  • @HermitCrab5 Also deep substrate that the crabs can burry and molt in is essential to their captive survival. You may want to check out the hermit crab association :)

  • Hey, I was just wondering which is better to use for heat a heating pad or a heating lamp? --thanks

  • @kayelkay152 heating pad in my opinion because there's less loss of moisture :P

  • Where did you get your Strawberry Hermy?

  • were do you get those type of crabs

  • @HermitCrab152 an a hermie be a mixed breed?

  • Hi I have a question I just got 3 hermit crabs (one is a strawberry) and I just cannot get the temperature to get to 75 deg. F! it is stuck at 72-73. Is that ok? I have a heater although it is a twenty gallon tank so it's difficult to get the temperature up.

  • pretty

  • I have a question: I have a snake, she is 4 years old. And rather big. When she was smaller she had a water bowl. Could I use it for my strawberry herm that's soon arriving? It's about the size of a hand and about an inch deep.

  • @HermitCrab5 Thanks! I heard they had bad molts though... and don't like being handled? Will Ruggies be ok with being handled?
