Bjørn Dæhlie was a freak of nature. This guy utilized oxygen better than anyone in the history of sport.

To put it in perspective, Miguel Indurain who, I actually met, told me his heart beat at rest was something like 32 beats a minute and could go lower. Indurain VO2 max was 88 ml/mg/min. Which is craziness.

Dæhlie VO2 max was around 96 and was taken out of season. It would have gone over 100 if it was taken during the season.
