looked/looks like he tripped over his wire man, then grounded his left wing tip, then tried to run it out, after that...which i think most pilots would have done....watch it again... i remember the first time i took off at 17,000ft density altitude...(before that, was about 9k) ran and ran and RAN, then ground skimmed (<1ft agl) for about 200ft....1978

Wing not level, real poor pilot skill. Walk, jog, and run. please take some lessons, before going up.

I am sorry but the launch was doomed from the start. The light winds and alltitude had nothing to do with it Poor pilot skills were the fault here, Wings were not level, poor take off run etc.If that were to happen on one of several thousand other launch sites we would be sending our condolences to his family.

Lite winds, high altitude, poor start. What else could happen? Site: White Mtns, California.
Just as well the rocks were there to soften his fall.
