  • You don't see mat work like this anymore. It's all hight spots and big bumps. The wrestlers paced themselves back then and a head scissors, a body scissors, anything that was on the mat allowed them to catch their breath. That is why they could go for 1 full hour in title matches.

  • Russ Davis was one of the finest commentators of his age. He was more of a color commentator compared to the script readers of the WWE. He let the matches speak for themselves.

  • Everyone in their Sunday best, yet the commentator is 2 winks from falling asleep! He must not have known enough moves to call the action, so he compensated with sardonic jabs on the drama. I'll credit him for a few good jokes, but his execution was so bad that they didn't save his commentary. My granddad lived for this during the F. Gotch to Brisco era, & he'd make similar jabs while watching. Still, had I been listening on radio, I would've been disappointed. Great tv match, though...

  • Love the body scissors at 3:38

  • One of the last of the real wrestlers, Lou Thesz. Wrestling before it went totally show-biz. Really good stuff.
