aic(dot)gov(dot)au/publications/current%20series/tandi/341-360/tandi359/view%20paper.html to anyone that thinks the Australia gun ban reduced the homicide rate is completely false. The data here done by the Australian Institute of criminology shows that homicide rates have been on a consistent decline since 1989. not 1996 when the "wonderful gun ban" was enacted. I implore you to like this comment so others can see.

I have always been in favour of responsible firearms ownership laws. Australia has always had historically a low incidence of gun related violence. Its not really part of our cultural identity. The 1996 laws were introduced to 'prevent any further mass killings'. The general murder rate was falling prior to 1996 and continued its trend after 1996. The issue with guns in the past decade have been largely because of a certain section of the community who haven't fully embraced Aussie values.

According to AussieLAFO's figures there are 800,000 licensed gun owners in Australia. This is less than 4%!! If you guys want youtr views to be accepted, then you had better decide to allow free discussion of this hot topic and learn to accept thay the styles of a small minority are just that and no more. Yes, you have the freedom to speak up, and continue to do so, but please let representatives of the majority have their say.

Why do gun lobby You Tubers such as AussieLAFO and steveleeilikeguns block people who speak up against guns? Can't they handle their arguments? It seems they feel too confronted by the issues raised. We also have pro gunners who want to dictate that only their "rational" reasoning styles are legitimate dismissing other styles as emotional. It IS democratic, not "fascist" to seek changes in the law by speaking up against guns. It's totalitarian to deny others the chance to voice their opinions.

What is wrong with reacting emotionally? Why do you deny the right of people to follow their feelings? It may be you who better fits the description beginning with "f" if you want to set the parameters for what is or isn't acceptable reasoning. I think you are just as nuts as I am to want to deny people a perfectly legitimate way of reacting. You need to learn not to belittle people. I am afraid that is all I have to say, Fare thee well and don't AD yourself in the foot.

Can't you read?? I stand by my right to speak up against guns as much as I like and will continue to do so. I don't owe anybody any explanation. The good energy of "OM" will always win against the bad energy of "BANG"!!! You can call me what you like. Borsak and Brown, in my opinion must be stopped from committing crimes against nature and I stand by my right to say this online as much as I want to. Capiche? Get it? Where did I say anything about attacking anyone?

I'm sorry his premise has nothing to do with any rational discussion about private licensed and regulated firearms ownership in Australia vs illegal firearms used illegally by criminals. Nor does it provide any rational justification for why the actions of a certified madman should dictate a response by which the majority are punished (Here is a book for you - John Stuart Mill -'On Liberty') - a foundation document for the democracy you profess to admire - see what it says about individuals? :)

If you want to question 'responsible gun ownership;' then fine. But what is the basis for your questioning? It cant be factual because Australia has one of the best records of private citizen responsible firearms ownership in the world. The SSAA is Australia's largest sporting club. Shooting is one of the safest sports in Australia according to the latest coroners report on sporting related external cause deaths. A lack of REASONING ability is what is nuts. Thus you reacting emotionally.

Dude - democratic rights? Who exactly are you 'speaking out' against?

Again . . . If your talking about people committing crimes with a gun then fine - support governments in making (and enforcing) real laws that actually target real criminals. But otherwise your just attacking a law abiding citizen who is doing nothing to hurt you. That doesn't make you a champion of democracy - it makes you a fascist. Robert Borsak isn't committing drive by shootings.

Read Malcolm Gladwell's book "Blink" and you will understand where I am coming from. No offense, but I sincerely believe it is you who does not have the full knowledge of certain aspects of humanity.
