Awesome plane. not sure if you know but there is one at Camarillo airport in California. not sure if it flys ,but I always see it there off the 101 hwy.

My father is a flight engineer who started flying on the connies. He would LOVE to fly his favorite airplane again.

A well put together video. It's sad to see in this day and age that so much of our aviation history is disappearing. Kudos to the people that have taken the effort and the time to bring back a small part, (or big, depending on how you look at it) to the air. We could use more people like you out there.

Someone owns each one I assume. Our was purchased at an auction (1986) and later donated by the buyer--also currently on our BOD.

How did you find a pilot who could fly this plane? Was he a retired commercial pilot that had experience flying a Connie?

In 1986 there were a number of pilots to choose from. We still have cockpit crew that will have to be re-qualified and a number of others that want to become qualified. The biggest challenge is actually the Flight Engineer position. But, we are confident that once we are moving toward her return to the air the "if you build it, they will come" factor will happen!

How long were these Connie's in service? And I wonder how many are wasting away in a boneyard somewhere. Beautiful plane, I saw one fly at Terre Haute but think it was to be flown to Australia and retired there.

First Connie (a C-69) was "delivered" in 1944 but they weren't in commercial service until after the war in 1946 and flew until '67. There is an airworthy Connie in Australia that flew an airshow there this summer.
