@lalukas I was there too...and man did it pour! I've been to some wet jazz fests before but this was the worse rain storm ever. TJW was scheduled for an interview on another stage but it was canceled because of the rain storm. BTW, TJW is playing in New Orleans this Fri (4/23/2010) and at the Baton Rouge Blues Fest this Sat.I will be there. Tony is the man!

he so naturally blood veined with the seed...we know not what it was but... deepest soul seeded into the southern boys back then ... chomp, chomp. love you Tony Joe

Elvis covered this song, What i had said was wrong in my previous comment. Just like that comment to what i had replied.

Tony wrote "poke salad annie" and recoded this in 1969 at muscle shoals alabama.

I sawTJW about 4 years ago at the Rock-n-Bowl in New Orleans. It was excellent. Most of his songs sounded to me like a version of Polk Salad Annie. He was outside after the concert and he looked like he was in bad health. The lifestyle of a sixty's hit maker must have taken it's toll. Good luck Tony and best of health for the rest of the journey.

oh, I like this version, nice and slow. The gators got yer granny. Gotta love the deep groove
Tony Joe's and Elvis' versions of 'Polk Salad Annie' are totally different. Tony's is funk/swamp rock whereas Elvis' is high energy performance oriented. I love both versions.
