9-11 is not a memory, it is a lesson. When the event occurred, all of us were alarmed, if not terrified. What was happening? Who was doing this? Why? Is the nation under attack? Am I safe? Are we going to war?

There was this sick sense inside of loss of security, of feeling like things were not going to be the same, and a flood of fight or flight adrenalin washed over the nation. It kind of threw us back into the jungle for a brief time.

The administration, charged with the duty of protecting us, did the best they could to swing into action. Homeland Security was enacted, terrorists were attacked abroad, and Saddam was brought down. At the same time, the economy tanked and life in America changed—all because of a few people on some planes.

But as time has passed with no further attacks on U.S. soil, we have become complacent and have forgotten the jeopardy we felt all those years ago. Many, with the genius that only hindsight can give, proclaim how wrong things have been handled. Some—using the safety, security, and freedom won by American soldiers, condemn them and construct conspiracy theories blaming the United States itself.

With the passage of time it is easy to deny the feelings we had and the brave words we uttered following the attack. Even though aggressive security tightening and taking the war to the terrorists in Iraq are likely the reasons we have not been attacked since, many politicians now demagogue anti-war sentiments. Being against war always seems obvious and the high moral ground. Unfortunately, enemies who will only listen to power dont see it that way. (See http://www.reasons-for-war-with-iraq.info/) It has even become fashionably politically correct to now sympathize with the terrorists and lobby for their rights.

As we settle back into our cushy and secure lives with all of the freedoms countless brave soldiers since our beginnings have died and suffered for, we should not get too comfortable, ethically superior, and high-minded.

There are two important realities that have not gone away. First, terrorism is still alive and well. It is not something that can be defended against by discussion. Radical Islamists believe that it is their duty to God to kill you if you do not convert. God has told them this and His word will always take precedence over yours. For a terrorist to even consider any argument otherwise would be a denial of their faith and would subject them to the wrath of God. This is an enemy that cannot be reasoned with. Thats not how we would like it to be, its not even reasonable, but that is the reality.

Secondly, aside from the direct danger to Americans should there be further attacks, there is the potential for an economic meltdown the likes of which we have never seen.

We are still trying to recover from the economic fallout from 9-11. But if there were to be further attacks, or even a nuclear device set off, the sense of security and smugness we now have would vanish like the cocky smile from a boxer who gets K-Od.

People would be afraid to venture out, we would stay away from crowded areas, fear travel, put off purchases, and the stock market would plunge like never before. Further attacks would make people lose confidence and wonder when the next one would occur, where, and how big. Our peace, security, happiness, and freedom depend on the free flow of commerce, and commerce would come to a virtual standstill. Companies would fail, jobs would be lost, prices would soarthere would be widespread panic and life as we know it would end. All the big talk about conspiracy and the evil of America would vanish.

This is the reality we must keep in mind as we look back on 9-11. Warring is not how any of us would like things to be. Intelligent discussion with the goal of making a better world is what we all desire. But what we want, the way we would like things to be, is not how they are.

We face a grave threat that is not going away. We must not slumber. We must learn and act consistent with the reality we face, and we must elect leaders who do as well.

  • 911 was a sacrifice to a Luciferian New World Order. Innocent blood has been spilt for evil purpose. The dead cry for vengeance and they shall have it. Towers fall, and so do capstones.

  • 9/11 was an inside job. Search Fabled Enemies.
