@4evaJaredLeto thanks for the answer. Now I think I'd love to sail on a tall ship!

@cmsahe They are real, the Indefatigable is actually the Grand Turk which is a modern replica of a sixth-rate frigate, HMS Blandford, from 1741. A Baltic schooner was used to represent all of the smaller vessels. 11 scale models were used for battle scenes, with working rigging and cannons fired by remote control.

Are those ships real or CGI? If they are real: WOW!

@Madeleinewith3Es Officers rarely wore their "full" uniform unless it was a formal occasion. Welcoming some new recruits to a frigate wouldn't be considered such an occasion - so his "good uniform" with epaulets was mostly stored in his cabin ready for the Admiralty dinners.

I just noticed that Pellew doesn't have epaulets on his coat. I thought that as presumably a post captain for more than a year, he would have two. I'm confused.
You can compare Hornblower to Sharpe. Hornblower was typical of midshipmen of the Royal Navy of the time, where as Sharpe is an Officer to come up from the ranks in an Army dominated by Aristocratic Officers who bought their commissions.

The old adversary may wear a new face, but whatever mask he chooses too hide behind, a Frenchman is still a Frenchman and we will beat him as we always have beaten him! For there is no power on earth that can withstand the might of the British Navy!
GOD SAVE THE KING!!!
