I don't know what is worse, the tailgaters or the people who make arbitrary lane changes in an oftentimes failed attempt to gain a few seconds on their fellow road users by cutting in to your "space cushion". I wonder if it ever occurs to the average driver that when lanes are full such as during peak traffic periods, that both lanes move essentially the same speed. Try it on your next commute, pick out a memorable car and see how far ahead it gets when you are in the rightmost lane.

When the traffic to the Port Mann bridge is backed up to 176 street, at worst you only lose 10 car lenghts if you stay in the slow lane instead of the 'fast' lane over a 20 minute period... and that's with being 'ok' with letting people merge at the next two onramps.

It's stop and go traffic there is no reason to tailgate. You can't drive any faster than you are. I'll tailgate if someone is driving to slow in the fast lane when there's not heavy traffic going our direction, but when it's crawling along theres no reason to tailgate, theres nothing the driver in front of you can do. Seems pointless he isn't going to get to where he is going any faster.

It looks like he's doing what I do. If you're in the lane that all the signs you pass say to be in and you're waiting patiently and advanving along, you don't want some asshole cutting in front of you that decided to ride up the lane with no cars so he/she can save some of their precious time and take yours. Keep it tight and they cant get in.

Tailgaters tick me off. Looks like he's either flipping you off repeatedly or having some kind of convuslion. One time, I had to ride with a tailgater, and we went down the highway at speeds of 80-95 mph, tailgating EVERYONE. Literally. We got right up on everyone's bumper until they had to speed to get out of the way. I wanted to say something, but didn't no what to say.
