At ten years old, Maddie Mastro is the top-ranked snowboarder in the country, after winning the United States of America Snowboard Association National competition for the fourth straight year. Maddie was recently invited to attend the Project Gold Junior Development Camp at Mammoth Mountain, California, where she was guided by Shawn White's coach, Bud Keene. Maddie's goal is to compete in the X Games and in the Winter Olympics. Her heroes are Olympic Gold Medalist Torah Bright, Jamie Madrid, and Maddie's big brother, Cameron, also an accomplished snowboarder. Maddie's future likely will include more USASA titles and possibly the Olympics. She talked to Nick Garner of http://www.sportstalk4kids.com about what it's like training with Olympic athletes and coaches, meeting her heroes, and how she intends to continue to dominate the junior ranks in American snowboarding. Maddie can often be found boarding at some of the best snowboarding resorts, including Mountain High Ski Resort, Mammoth Mountain, and Bear Mountain in Big Bear. She has several sponsors, and she is a member of the Roxy snowboarding team that promotes their snowboarding apparel.
