Cheap, but nice way to mount an iPad with the case. Case used was the "Incase Convertible Book Jacket", but Apple case should work as well. Found a 256mm (center hole to center hole) stainless steel bar pull on ebay. Installed in my 2004 Honda Accord. Next Step is to run audio and power.

  • @Ebonics101 nice catch. My brother said the same thing when he first saw the video. Actually it is a leaf from a tree in my front yard. This was a spur of the moment video to actually test the imovie app on the iphone. Thanks for viewing!

  • Thanks so much for this! I just bought the steel bar pull from Home Depot for $10. It's not a standard size, but I got lucky because there was this exact size for a custom order that was returned. Started it today. Just have to drill and install now! Thanks again!

  • Wow I never would have thought of this.

  • @t2nolan I'm sorry for the late reply guys. I haven't seen any bar pulls that fit that description. I looked online, what about a rectangle? One side would go flush against your dash, enabling you to put the screws where they need to be. Google "Rectangle Pull mockett.com" you should see some images of what I mean.

(I have never purchased from mockett. I don't know how good they are.)

  • @dtschantz10 No I still haven't found a solution, but I haven't been looking as hard either. I'd love to hear if @CAnthonyVidal knows of a bar pull that juts out a bit so it can still be screwed into the vent assembly that's not quite as wide as the iPad case... so that the case could still slide through. The other option might be to have a plastic or metal part hand made for this... Does anyone know if there's malleable metal or plastic that has screw threads on the ends?

  • @t2nolan Did anything work for you? I have a 2002 bmw 330 and I am looking for similar solutions

  • My vent assembly width from outside edge to outside edge is exactly 256mm (2004 bmw 325ci). Any ideas on a pull bar that has "v" shape arms so I can mount it on the vent assembly like your doing, but "v out" 20mm or so, so I can still fit the case through? My "smarty" case back is 246mm wide.

Great idea, this is exactly what I've been trying to do, a temporary mount that works with my case so I can take it out!

  • THIS is what I've been trying to do! I've been trying to use cable weaved through my vents so I can slide iPad WITH the case through it... Like you I don't to remove it from the case every time. Unfortunately it looks like my vents are too narrow on my 2004 bmw 325ci... do you know if there's a bar pull that juts out? My vents are about 9 inches across so I need it to be a little wider.
