  • just purchased the 609 unit. What is upconversion mean? All my sources including sony playstation and sat/cbl box are hooked hdmi. My samsung led tv already has a beautiful picture. can i improve my picture quality with my current system?

  • @ubm87 Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. “Up-conversion” usually refers to a receiver’s ability to take an analog video connection and convert it into an HDMI output. Most models with this feature will also take the SD video resolution (408i, 480p) and convert it into a higher quality (720p, 1080i, 1080p). Because all your sources are connected with HDMI, you likely won’t need this feature. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • is it possible to hook up 2 12 inch kicker subwoofers to the TX-SR806?

  • @makaveli1127

Is it possible? Yes. Is it a good idea? No.

It is not recommended to use car audio equipment for home use. Besides the fact that they are engineered for quite different listening environments, power, impedance, and voltage are inherent problems that discourage adaptation.

Keep the car subs in a car, and get a home subwoofer for home.

  • great review XD!! how much will either of them set me back??

  • @reddexred

Both of these are last year's models from Onkyo, there are new receivers out now that have replaced the 706 and the 806. You can find them at Crutchfield, or give us a call to discuss which one is right for you, and how much it costs.

    Thanks,

  • @settinsun11 I Have the 706 and it is amazing runs like a top and was easy set up. Crystal clear even at high volume. I had a TX-DS787 for over ten years and it's still going strong I gave it to a friend of mine and he beats the crap out of. He constantly brings it to the tripping point and it still works. He had a marantz receiver before that and treated it the same way and it died after two years of his constant abuse. Yes, He's kind of an idiot, but I believe it shows the durability of Onkyo.

  • Dont buy onkyo they bad stuff Sr 606 crap after a year on the hdmi switching

  • @MrAnimeGuru

Well, dealing with that sounds like no fun at all. i can tell you from experience (I own two Onkyo receivers, both well past warranty age) and they continue to work flawlessly.

You do have a 2-year warranty on the Onkyo 706, so it's not too late to make sure your capacitor problem is fixed for you at their cost.

  • @vincedog3,

For a complete run down on each receiver's THX capabilities, you can get all that at Crutchfield.

On the Crutchfield website for any product you can click on "Hands on Research" for detailed descriptions of all the particulars, like THX.

You can also see the details of each level of THX certification at the THX website.

I believe all the info on our website, and in this video is accurate.

    I hope that helps,
