I support the Palestinian fight for freedom, but it seems extraordinary of Dr MacLennan to say there is no such thing as Islamism. Islamism is the political belief that Islam should direct the politics and government of a country, which is basically Hamas' stance.
Seems to be it would be far better to say "Palestinians have every right to choose Islamists to lead them in the struggle against occupation if they see fit".
