[For MUSC246 -Term Project-, Dr. Roth]
"Short sample of a recent 'work-in-progress' completion of Mozart's unfinished D-Minor Phantasie for Fortepiano (K397)."
"We are used to hearing the Stadler completion of Mozart's original score, which breaks off toward the end of the Allegretto section. The completion presented here is original and is intended to give the piece a unifying, symmetrical structure (repetition of the main theme in the major with improvisatory counterpoint, and closing with D-Major arpeggios to mirror the D-Minor arpeggios the piece began with). This because many performers find the Stadler completion anticlimactic, ending the Phantasie on an unsatisfactory level. This completion is only one alternative, beginning at 1:17, where the original composer left off for unknown reasons." (Mirabel 12, 2006 - for MUSC245).
