Jan, you're never going to convince someone of the error of their ways if you can't restate their position in a way that they would agree to. Alan made it quite clear that he believes there is a difference between someone acting against someone else's will by force on behalf themselves, and someone acting against someone else's will by force on behalf the government. You can either agree to disagree, or try to show him why that is a double-standard.

What do people keep talking about a contract we made with the government giving them the power to take money from us? I don't know about you, but I never signed a contract telling the government it can forcibly take money from me. What kind of bullshit contract is that? That's like an armed robber going into the 7-11 and telling the clerk he has to hand over the money because he signed a contract saying that armed robbers are allowed to take the money.
