The music for Smile was written by Charlie Chaplin in 1936 for the soundtrack of his movie "Modern Times", although the lyric would not be written until 1954.

Josh performs Smile at the 2008 Classic Brit Awards.

oh. Goosebumps, chills running 'up my spine'. One of the most beautiful songs ever composed in popular music- so interesting that it was the only one (?) Chaplin ever composed- I think. Who wrote the lyrics- Chaplin as well in '54? And Josh's angelic voice is the perfect instrument (beautiful piano accompaniment). Thanks so much for sharing- absolutely, absolutely. And I guess we can thank buddy Dave for bringing Josh to the 'world'. Aren't we lucky we never run out of fabulous music ?? Merci.

That man was amazing. How perfect that Josh would sing this!
