I have 2 hermit crabs. Onion and rainbow. Their shells looked like that because they are painted. But don't bag me out! I didn't know about the disadvantages of painted shells. So I got them natural shells that they may someday move into. But it's awkward because their names won't go with their new shells

painted shells are un healthy beacuse when they go in there water next thing you know the paint will be chipping off and they will be aoaking in paint and the paing will sink in to there gills

im not so sure abot them not having good eye sight, cuz when i first got mine i would stand up from my chair witch is like 15 feet from the tank and they would zip right in there shells. so i think they see just fine
