The irony is the the great John Peel who I absolutly rate didn't rate the Cure who I also absolutly rate.

RIP John Peel, he introduced me to so much great music & so many bands that I still love now. The Cure were one of my fave bands back in the 80's, this track is still funky, edgy & makes me want to have a good mosh!!!!

@1965raj ya! all for the puinks!

The Cure used to sing this as Killing an Englishman just to show there were NO political intentions, none at all. It's from the book L'Etranger, The Stranger, by Albert Camus, who received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1957, but who died in a car accident in January, 1960.

Of course! I have the Cult Hero 7", plus saw The Cure in 1985 actually play it with the original vocalist! I have a lot of time for The Cure still. They always encapsulated the punk spirit, no matter what they played or how big they became. They are no U2!
Wonderful song. They no longer have their earty edge, but they still command a lot of respect. And any 'puink' record collection wouldn't be complete without this!
