Dunno if it's an Australian tour thing, but FWIW Tim had stood up the back in his own little world the other two times they played there...
Also they had a serious rock'n'roll moment when their piano broke down mid-show, so they borrowed the support band's organ and gave us the best version of French Disko I'd ever heard them play...sorta made the night.
@misterwarwick I was there that night and the footage misrepresents the show-the sound in the video is much too clinical (they were really loud!) and the footage doesn't show the audience-remember it was a club show that was discreetly filmed, so the camera angles weren't front-on to the musicians and they were performing to the audience not to the cameras, which is why they don't make eye contact much. I saw them in 1997 and 1999 at the same video, and they were good as ever this time around
@CrewVFC : I thought that was a sad thing when that happened, but after clicking through to see the rest of the concert this was taped from, it's a good thing. It's a pretty depressing show, IMHO. Spiritless. Pointless. Going through the motions. Laetitia tries, but not too hard. Tim's just wrapped up in himself. Everyone else is just playing along. I saw them in the 90s and in 2000 - they were amazing. The show above is just dreary in comparison.
This is a beautiful song! love stereolab 4evr!

@dakoran Hate to tell you but Stereolab went on semi-permanent hiatus in April 2009. They have pretty much broken up.
