This video I took May.4,1995 at a local church, and with Lee Moore's permission I recorded the show using an old Sony CCD-V5 camcorder, not good in low light.
Lee passed on about a year after this video was shot, I am glad I had a chance to meet him before he left us.
I had spoken to him on the phone shortly after this show, he was a real great guy and had a great sence of humor, he will be missed.
I used to listen to Lee when he was on WWVA in Wheeling, WV.
"Coffee Drinking Night Hawk"
The song "The Cat Came Back" was a minstrel song back in the 1880's

  • I had to honor not only to grow up listening to Lee Moore, but also getting to know him in his later years when he lived in upstate NY...even meeting his wife and going to their home. I still a picture I took of him and his wife at their home. They didn't come any finer than Lee Moore.

  • @Wander52 I talked to him on the phone once back in the 90's and of course met him when I made this video.

    He was a fine gentleman.

  • I used to lieten to him til wee hours of the morning when i was a kid in Nova Scotia in the fifties. He used to get a beatiful sound out of his guitar. I got to see live at the Edison Hotel in Toronto in 1968, what a thrill form me. He was just as good live as on the air. He even did a little magic act between set. An extremely talented man.

  • @guymelanson I have seen Lee only once in person when I made this video in 1995, but I have listened to him for many years on WWVA, I liked his style and picking.

  • This video brings back so many wonderful memories. I used to listen to the OLD COFFE DRINKING NITE HAWK on WWVA many many years ago. I am 71 so you can guess how long ago that was.. This was one of my favourite songs and when I learned to play guitar, I sang it at a lot of parties. I loved the way he picked that guitar and copied his bass runs. God bless you Lee From your fan up in Canada Harvey

  • @GUITARPICKERish Thanks Harvey, yes I also loved the way he played that Martin guitar.

He had a style all his own.

    Thanks for those kind words.
