A friend had trouble with one of these.
I just wanted to try mine for the first time with my favorite ink, the Penman Sapphire. The verdict? See for yourself.
The paper I use here is Clairefontaine french ruled and helps control the height of the letters.

  • sounds scratchy.

  • Every one of my videos exagarates the noise of the nib. It is not scatchy at all.

  • why crappy pen? I though the sonnet was a respectable pen.

  • Well, I do love the Sonnets but there is a number of people that hate them. The pen is controversial. Much of it comes from the early version when the nibs were softer and easily misaligned and because of the famous problem with the cracked inner cap that made the pen to dry out quickly.

  • Hello azavalia1 I would have a question.Only the Terracotta edition has a semiflex nib or all sonnets do I have one Laque black but I did`t wanted to force it until I known that is safe to do it because this pen is very special to me .Please answer.

  • "Most" Sonnets have soft nibs (not semiflex).

    So you should be careful.

  • Your handwriting would make a nun... shall we say tingly?

  • Wow you have got beautiful writing! I'm 15 and just started writing in cursive style. I really want a fountain pen!

  • looking at your hand writing i just want to ask you what the fuck you are.

how did you learn to write like this?

  • The sonnet is a lovely pen. Had the misfortune of misaligning the tines but they are reset after some deliberation and the pen writes beautifully. You need no pressure and the pen is most smoothest when you arent rough with it.

  • Beautiful handwriting. Nice pen, I'm getting the normal Black Laque GT version

  • how do you learn to write like that?

  • well that looks very nice. ha... im trying to do basic cursive and i was like OMG!!
