never mind what end of tree goes first,i really think he should have at least two more lights on your roof.

if you have not had a tree come unhooked from a choker & go past you at 100 MPH. I used to cut & skid trees at 10,000 ft elevation down to 7500 ft elevation clearing ski trails on Vail Mt Colorado. where the skidder would slide 20 ft at a time with the wheels locked up. We actualy drove up a road & then went to the top of the new ski run being cut & then skidded logs down the steep ski run. If you go look at most of the other you tube videos on skidders you will see BUTT 1st up to the bumpr

There is a reason they build a log bumper on the back of the skidder.. You want to get the butt end of the tree off the ground # 1, so you don't have to drag the full length of the tree through the mud & dirt, this keeps the trees cleaner when you get to the landing, less mud & dirt to cut with the chain saw. # 2 less drag = less fuel used. Tops are easier to pull around sharp corners than the butt. Also you are not skidding on too steep of a slope if

@RXforJazz Its norway.... mhy dont you tell him how to do it..?? The reason why he do it this way is becaus its steap as hell down to the fjord in the valley bottom...the trees breaks the skidder down hills....

Im not sure what country this is ?? but I have never seen anyone skid tops 1st, why would you do that ?? you have no weight on the back tires for traction, thats why there is an arch, to get half of the tree up in the air for less drag & more traction. this is. sombody should tell this guy he is skidding the trees backwards.

You should try this. It`s much easier to load and unload. Tracktion is ok when you run down the hill and on snow of course. I use 16mm splicedfiber rope, 6 tons each and allmost no weight. Ten to tvelve ropes on each winch x 0.5 FM3 (ex pine) gives 10fm3 loads. This video is from the west coast of Norway skidding birch for firewood.
