Actually, rice is high in nutrients, it's got a lot of insoluble fibre, carbs and also some protein and plenty of B vitamins (Y)

I ate Matauya as my main quick eating place, or izakaiya yakitori, convenience store items like cheap curry bags for ¥88 and their onigiri, steam buns, oden...or cooking my own foods from Life supermarket....

We eat rice too, but with 3 kids we also eat pasta and ramen too. Eating rice only can get expensive. Curry rice is easy to make and it goes a long way. I love raw fish also. We eat fried fish here a lot too. Soki Soba is awesome here in Okinawa, Japan.

Yeah, I would imagine with kids you wanna stretch the carbs to last a while^^. Are you kids in normal Japanese school or International school?
