GAY VACOUVER GAY HISTORY 1979-2010
A slide show with music of the Vancouver gay/lesbian community from the years 1979-2010, composed of pictures from David Myers, Bill Houghton, and John Kozachenko. The music is portions of six songs by gay/lesbian artists, commonly played on the Coming Out Radio Show during David Myers and Bill Houghton's years with the radio show (1978-1986). It features photos from early Vancouver Gay Pride Parades, AIDS Walks, various demonstrations, and local gay/lesbian social events. Please note in this earlier version of the slideshow, one photo depicting the 1981 AIDS Walk (07:39 in) incorrectly identifies the person standing next to Gary Gilbertson as the late Aaron Webster, who was murdered in Stanly Park by homophobic "queer bashers" in 2001. I regret and take sole responsibility for this mis-identification. This error has been corrected in the newer version of the slideshow entitled, "The Gay Spirit". - David Myers
