  • @durianriders Yes. The "cage" as you call it is to keep them safe from predators at night. During the day they scratch around the yard, going wherever they like. I suggest you do some reading up on how to keep chickens alive before you start leaving profanity laced, misguided comments. Leaving chickens out in the open with an open coop is like putting up a sign for the foxes and raccoons that says, "Free Dining."

  • good video, I have a stupid question in the enclosed portion of the coops the perch is off he ground 12 inches or so. Do the eggs crack when they drop out. Thats the part I dont get. thanks

  • No, that's a very good question. The chickens "roost" on the perch overnight, but they lay eggs in the egg box on the back of it. The egg box is on the lowest level, so the eggs don't drop any distance at all.
