  • It comes as no surprise that Republicans like Joe are always willing to use God, to alledge their moral superiority, when they are the ones who condone and support the torture of other human beings. They behave just like those that we are fighting against, and appear to be completely oblivious to the teachings of the Christ they claim to represent. Hypocrits, liars and cowards all, they will cling to any rationalization that continues their egocentric, selfagrandizing power trip. Shame on Joe.

  • Joe is an ignorant piece of trailer trash from north Florida. The bottom line is torture is illegal under the laws of the United States of America. Torture is illegal under a number of international treaties that the US help draft and signed. The US has prosecuted many foreign soldiers for these same torture methods. You can give it a nice sanitary name like "enhanced interrogation" but it is torture plain and simple. You can prop it up with 911 bs but it still violates US and international law.

  • No one questions you or your husband have paid a price for this war. In fact, it can be shown through my responce, it's easy to generalize a few bad apples into the whole barrel.

However, the simple fact that you can't see torture is wrong, no matter who is doing it to whom, is disapointing to say the least. I pray for your husband's save return from this war which was started on lies and misinformation, and ended up tarnishing the good name of soliders who fight for freedom, not oil.

  • I am not blinded by anything! Way to keep personal insults out of your argument. This is my last response to you, since any attempt for an adult conversation seems unlikely. I have felt the results of this war more than most Americans and pray for peace everyday. I live in the real world though, and know that there's a price to pay for it.

  • So torturing terrorist fine, torturing troops, not fine? Got it. If they are waiving a flag, have a 'god' on their side, then it's okay to torture.

I'm sorry you're so blinded by all the tea bag parties and GOP agendas, but what I preach is common sense and humanity. It's wrong to torture, just as it is to kill innoncents. So what you're saying is, is that's it okay to bomb Baghdad, take photos of us standing on top of POWs, and torture men who have had no trial?

    Truly moral of you.

  • Just by making the comparision between a Marine being tortured and a terrorist being tortured bothers me beyond belief. None of the 3 guys we've waterboarded are good, upstanding men. They have no honor, not a ounce of humanity. Their goal is to kill as many innocences as possible, while our soldiers go through painful measures not to harm innocences. So pardon me if I don't shed a tear for them. You do know that Al Qaeda doesn't fall under the Geneva Convention, right? They are not a state!

  • Who said your husband was a terrorist?

What I said was there's a double standard. So it's 'not a big deal' when WE tourture, but if a marine was BEING tortured, with the same methods we down play as nothing more than a little water in the nose, we would be saying it's against the Geneva Conventions, something the last administration CHOOSE to ignore and wipe themselves with.

I'm FOR your husband and all troops, which is why I defend their honor over here, because our country DIDN'T.

  • My husband is currently serving overseas, and I RESENT the fact you are comparing our troops to known terrorists. Our soldiers are fighting to free and save lives, while those we've waterboarded live to do the opposite. NO COMPARISON. Besides, you do know what Islamic terrorists have done to our soldiers they capture, right? This argument is ridiculous.

  • unfortunately, some of those wingnuts might still be hanging around DC, and new ones are being bred.

We need to get out of this position as one of the most socially backward industrialized countries. these aren't biblical times when we should take an eye for eye (at least not physically); the due process of law is what sets us apart, and these right-wing assholes are holding progress back.

  • Your comment is particularly relevant to me, because my father is a Marine who was in Iraq, and two of my cousins were US Army soldiers who spent a year each there too. I wouldn't want this happening to them.

You're right, the hypocrisy is embarrassing.

This is not something we should be debating; torture is wrong, and I don't remember asking any CIA agents to go around rounding up people and torturing them, either.

  • I must've been high during the 9/11 attacks... I don't remember asking anyone to go out and torture for me...

I find it so funny, that some are playing off waterboarding like, 'Oh, it's not that bad... Bugs in a box, who cares?'

However if a Marine was overseas and having all this stuff done to him or her... We would be screaming for blood, and their saving.

This whole thing is fuckin' crazy, and I'm embarassed at some of it.

  • Scarsy is a loon

the bush mantra of the end always justifies the means even if it means selling out the principals this country was founded on

god i'm glad those wingnuts are gone
