Warumpi Band "Stompen Ground", Broome, WA, 1998

This was filmed at Broome's annual Stompen Ground festival. Warumpi Band's lead singer is the one and only George Burarrwanga, a charismatic Gumatj clansman from NE Arnhem Land who is somewhat of a legend and in some music circles is regarded as the "Black Mick Jagger" of Aboriginal Australia.

seen this band in the eightys and I always thought i'd catch them again. but not to be. Im just thankful I got to see them at all. One of the best live rock bands I"ve ever seen Pure energy. Sadly missed. RIP George

Warumpi Rocks, "Stand Up" must be in the top 10 Aussie rock songs EVER, Black , White or even Scottish/Dutch. George aint dead, just quietly. His body may have left us, but I reckon if you head up the top, and your camped out in the sticks, you may just see some lights bouncing on the horizon. I figure thats where George is. I know its another bands song but, I do see him 'Dancing in the Moonlight
