Tracks 01-02) 999,999 / 1,000,000
NIИ - Lights in the Sky over North America
Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas, NV
December 13, 2008

Note that the camera work is seriously questionable for the few half dozen or so tracks due to my paranoia about being caught by security. This was shot one seat from the center aisle (section 206) and I was very visible to the staff walking by, so I kept having to pull the camera from view hiding it low behind the row in front. As the night continued, it seemed as though nobody cared about my filming, so the framing improves. Some other minor disturbances were others in our row needing to get past us, given our position close to the aisle, causing me to have to move the camera to let them by. They were however all very courteous, ducking when the could - a first for me, after having filmed many concerts (thanks!). The people screaming thru the Ghosts tracks from a few rows back on the other hand were complete assholes.

Look out for the forthcoming fan-made Vegas DVD, compiled from numerous sources of footage & audio, including these videos - due early 2009. You can find more info on this project at the "Echoing The Sound" forums.

  • Nik this is amazing footage, thank you so much... Interesting thread on the camera policy and link provided. I appreciate the footage cuz in lieu of getting my camera confiscated I was bangin my head so harsh in the front row 102A!. I would have had nothing but a blur on the film.

FUCKIN AWESOME CONCERT - annn footage to do it justice. Thanks...

  • Lol, of all the the gigs I've filmed, NIN have been the hardest. It's torture trying to stand still and film during one of the most body-moving bands out there ;) Totally worth it tho when I get to share it with awesome fans that really appreciate it.

Thanks for the kind words ;)

  • cameras were allowed. as long as they werent professional cameras. Security didnt even care that i was doing j's the entire show AND filming too! Next time dont worry Trents cool with ya filming!

  • Ah, here it is.. Rob's input/advice on the subject:

  • DONT KNOW WHEN IT STARTED! DONT KNOW HOW!

these guys kicked ass in hamilton

i seriously hope the professional movie of lights in the sky tour comes out, don't know why it's delayed.

  • Thanx man ;) I'm definitely planning on getting to the '09 shows, that's pretty much a given. See ya there :D

  • Yeah I suppose we did.... I didnt know all that. Thanks! still good cam work brother considering you had to be all low key about it.... See you at the next show (?) GBD

  • But yeh, after a while I noticed that security in my particular area didn't care at all. Sadly that wasn't the case for a couple of the 10x & 30x section tapers.

Rob Sheridan wrote post a while back explaining "gray area" of audience bootlegs and NIN's policy vs. the venue's and copyright holder's policies. It's quite interesting, I'll try find it.

  • I think you and I got lucky. I know of others that were shut down during their attempts. Right outside the main center aisle entrance to the theater they had a sign to the effect of "No audio or video recording devices". Non-professional *still* cameras were fine.

Indeed, Trent himself is fine audience filming, but individual venues set their own policies, despite the wishes of the performing artist. Usually, the venue will *sell* the rights to film back to the artist.
