hey Luke you are - this video is wonderful. Well delivered by a really good teacher

i don't care how it's pronounced. i like BAHN-EYEVER. I feel retarded saying BONE-EEVER.
Guess I could call him Justin Vernon.

@maclas92 - I'm not precisely sure what he actually uses, but I know I can get you pretty close. I know he plays a Les Paul, and for this sound, he almost surely has the pickup switch in the middle. On the record, there are two guitars doubling the riff, creating a stacked effect. A very light analog chorus (with mix knob at about 10 o'clock, depth at about 9 o'clock, and a slow rate) should sound similar. I can hear compression on the guitar, as well as some overdrive when he digs in. This wou

@jerem2cc - you'll see i wrote another comment that says I've never seem him play it. i learned it by ear. and note for note, it's almost dead-on... which makes it correct. if i showed you how i play "cliffs of dover", you might not like it - because i play it the way that feels best to my hands, while still maintaining the sounds. there is more than one way to skin a cat, and more than one way to play a note.

@iamjakecollier - i will say, i do have a note error on the second chord with it's movement. Vernon plays a "6-7-1" hammer thing... i actually played it "5-6-1". in other words, Vernon plays notes "C-D-D#", but i played it "A#-C-D#". that's the real error in the song... but tonally, it's all there.

Hey, folks! I guess I should have named this video "How I Play" and not "How to Play", bit everyone makes mistakes, I guess.
But think about it like this: 1) close your eyes; 2) listen; 3) does it sound like the song? or at least very, very close?; 4) winning.
I'll admit - I've never actually watched him play it! This was strictly by ear.
